7 Sunday Assignments

Sundays are the perfect day to prepare for the week ahead. When you’re in school, working full-time, taking care of a family and taking over the world one awesome adventure at a time, being ready for whatever comes your way is vital. Add these 7 simple assignments to your Sunday, or whatever free day you may have, to get ahead of the game before it even begins!

PACK FOR MONDAY

Packing

Take 10 minutes to pack everything you’ll need for the next day. Lay out your outfit(s), pack your gym bag, set aside what meals and snacks you’ll take, and double-check you have all your books/work/laptop bag/etc… Make sure all your odds and ends are ready to go right when you wake up the next morning. Allowing a little bit of time to pre-plan will take a ton of stress out of your week ahead.

ACTUALLY DO YOUR TO-DO LIST

To Do List

Use your weekend or free time to make a to-do list and actually do it. Lists of errands can look intimidating, but will take a lot less time than you probably think and will relieve a lot of pressure to pack things in when you don’t have time. Try to include something that will take you into the week feeling refreshed… things like washing your car, doing all your laundry, putting clean sheets on your bed, getting your nails done, cleaning out your refrigerator or bedroom, and getting a budget friendly massage all help!

HARD BOIL A BUNCH OF EGGS

Hard boiling a bunch of eggs is a great and easy way to get ready for a busy week. These little protein packed goddesses can go with you anywhere and serve as a great snack or a whole meal when combined with fruits and veggies. The process is incredibly simple….

Put your eggs into a pot, fill with just enough water to cover all your eggs, sprinkle in some salt, bring the water to a boil, turn off the heat and cover the pot with a lid for 15 minutes… drain, rinse with cold water & refrigerate!

PREPARE LEAN PROTEIN

Make your week a breeze by assembling your lean protein of choice and cooking it so it’s ready to eat at a moment’s notice. Crockpots are a great solution to making food while you take care of your list of errands, or you can also opt for the stovetop, baking in the oven or BBQing. Explore new options too! If you’re used to cooking chicken, explore other lean meats like turkey or pork tenderloin. Don’t feel restricted to just meat either, you veggie lovers! Take time on your free day to cook up a bunch of lentils, pre-boil/cook sweet potatoes, make a big mix of tofu and veggies, etc…

BREW A PITCHER

DIY drink delights

Let’s face it… water can get old. Sorry water, I love you and your hydration is awesome and essential, but you can get pretty boring. Grab a pitcher at your local grocery store for a few bucks and brew up something delicious to have as a treat when you get home. Options like Crystal Light, tea bags that you brew then pour over ice or DIY Drink Creations will keep your calories low while providing a delicious “not water” solution to enjoy!

CREATE WEEKLY GOALS

People with Goals

Write down at least 3 things you want to accomplish during the week ahead. Make them things that are realistic and will help you create healthy habits. Even simple daily routine items like “brush my teeth twice a day” may seem obvious, but if it’s not something you’re successfully accomplishing, it’s worth adding. Along with your daily routine items, include something you’ll have to work hard to accomplish. Decide to increase your workout routine or limit your meals out to just 1 or 2 times for the week. Push yourself to become the best possible person you can be.

RELAX, UNWIND & REFLECT

Offline

Set aside at least 15 to 30 minutes of your free day to take a deep breath. Sometimes this is best to do right before bed so you sleep with more ease and wake up feeling ready for anything! Journal about the week that passed and what you felt you accomplished or fell short on. Close your eyes and focus only on your breathing for at least 5 minutes. Read a book that’s been calling your name from the abandoned bookshelf. Take a bath or a walk around the block. Be alone! Don’t be afraid of the boredom you might feel at first… this process of tuning into yourself is extremely powerful and will completely change your outlook by increasing your level of inner peace.

To your awesome week ahead,
Rachel
